    About Dr. Fiona Chao

Dr. Fiona Chao has been practising medicine for 10 years and holds an MBBS (Hons) and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Her passion for women's health began during her medical student years — she even considered becoming a gynaecologist — and she now sees menopause care as an area that lets her enjoy both the diversity of general practice and the nuance of women's health management.

Fiona's approach to menopause care is patient-centred, evidence-based, and holistic. She believes menopause affects every woman differently, and that care should be individualised to reflect each woman's symptoms, medical history, values, and treatment preferences. Central to her practice is shared decision-making and active listening — allowing time for patients to speak without interruption and paying attention to the concerns beneath the surface, acknowledging experiences that have too often been minimised or dismissed.

One of her proudest career milestones was completing her GP exams and finishing her training. Beyond menopause management, Fiona also specialises in skin cancer medicine and paediatrics, and she is particularly excited about emerging treatments in this space, including testosterone treatment for women with Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder (HSDD). As part of the Emsee team, she values collaborating with other clinicians and allied health colleagues to provide holistic care.

Outside of medicine, Fiona makes time for daily pilates and any exercise she can fit into her lifestyle, finding it a helpful way to balance her working hours with rest and leisure.
